Cyber Security at SAP support by DEXON Video Wall Controller

SAP is the second largest multinational software company in the world - they operate worldwide and have large number of employees in several cities over the world. Founded in 1972 as a private partnership allowed the first product to be released one year later which was a financial accounting system. This system serves as the cornerstone in the ongoing development of other software modules of the system.

Since 2012, SAP has acquired several companies that sell cloud-based products, with several multibillion-dollar acquisitions seen by analysts as an attempt to challenge competitor Oracle. On 29 January 2019, SAP announced plans to cut approximately 4,000 positions at the company in a strategic plan to shift to more modern cloud-based technologies such as blockchain, quantum computing, machine learning, Internet of Things, Iand artificial intelligence. The cyber security is a critical part of today's company operation and even software development.

Cyber security means protection of data and smooth flow of information between sources, and protection against viruses and network based attacks. Large number of employees must be occupied with such tasks due to the increasing number of unwanted cyber attacks that may interrupt the operations of full organizations and so causing significant loss of information and financial crisis for companies for days or weeks. SAP has an office responsible for Easter European operations and decided to deploy a service center in a regional office located in Budapest. In this office, employees perform daily operations and protect data and information flow 24/7.

What is Cyber Security?

It is the protection of computer systems and networks from the theft of or damage to their hardware, software, or electronic data, as well as from the disruption or misdirection of the services they provide. Cyber security refers to the body of technologies, processes, and practices designed to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage, or unauthorized access. Additionally, recent security research suggests that most companies have unprotected data and poor cybersecurity practices in place, making them vulnerable to data loss. Data breaches exposed 4.1 billion records in the first half of 2019.

Hackers attack every 39 seconds, on average 2,244 times a day. Additionally, recent security research suggests that most companies have unprotected data and poor cybersecurity practices in place, making them vulnerable to data loss. To successfully fight against malicious intent, it’s imperative that companies make cybersecurity awareness, prevention and security best practices a part of their culture.

The average cost of a data breach is $3.92 million as of 2019.

The ultimate solution

The operators and admins have a large video wall controlled by DXN5000 controller to share information to the stakeholders. This information must be real time and high quality and accessible by multiple participants and so they can act immediately to protect against security threats. The critical leading edge service here is real time display of input information, and very high quality of scale up or scale down of incoming video material, operator workstation screens, and statistical data displayed in web browser and windows based graphics pictures.

The system administrators have access to supervise and control the content over the video wall. Additionally, each of the operators have the right to display their work station image and so share any statistics or information to block threats. DEXON deployed 1 video processor to control 2 pieces of independent video walls, consisting of 6x2 screens. The leading edge service of DXN5000 is to control 2 completely independent operations. One of the walls displays sensitive information to be shared and seen only by certain employees while the rest of the information is shared to all operators.
