Corte dei Conti: The Entire Audio-Visual Technology System Has Been Revolutionized at the Court of Audit in Italy

The Court of Audit in Italy is an advanced system that enables the orderly participation of attendees, accompanied by live broadcasts, including the national public broadcasting company (Radio Audizioni Italiane – RAI), and often welcomes high ranking State officials, starting with the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella.

The installation described in this article is particularly significant because of its location. We are at the main headquarters of the Corte dei Conti, a constitutional body of the Italian State responsible for judicial and administrative oversight in matters of public accounting and other areas defined by law. Based in Rome and frequently hosting high level institutional events, it’s understandable that the Court requires advanced and reliable audio-visual systems to support press coverage, live broadcasting, and formal proceedings.

Moreover, the Court is regularly visited by the highest offices of the State, and key national meetings are held here every year. A complete renovation of all audio-visual systems was carried out here, following a delicate operation to remove and sanitize the old technology infrastructure.

The project was completed by a trusted system integrator, A&ITS, a company active in the design, implementation, and integration of multimedia AV systems since 2011.

The project was led by Gabriele Celli, CEO of the Rome-based company, who guided us through the installation:
“When we first entered the spaces at the Corte dei Conti, we found a system that was outdated by today's standards. We started with full clean-up before beginning the implementation of the new design. It was a complex and meticulous project — of the three months needed to complete the work, nearly one was dedicated just to removing the old technology,” says Celli.

“During the design phase,”
explains Celli, “we had to consider that the system would often be used by national broadcasters for filming, coverage, and live broadcasts.
Creating a stand-alone system wouldn’t have been enough. We needed a solution capable of integrating with RAI, which operates with extremely high standards and where there’s no room for technical errors.”

For this reason, the main hall was equipped with HDBaseT, SDI, and HDMI video distribution, along with both analog and Dante audio, allowing production teams to easily connect both input and output signals.“The entire audio setup is built around Yamaha equipment,” adds Celli.

As for the video system, the setup includes a Barco projector with a motorized screen and a 2x2 video wall made up of LG displays.

Given the frequent high-level meetings, A&ITS designed a networked system allowing each seat to participate at any time. The solution was an IP-based conference system offering high-quality audio, modern design, and advanced discussion functions. This was essential to enable live streaming from the main hall to other rooms within the institution.

The entire setup is managed by a five-camera control system, using cameras connected via one-way HDBaseT links to three other rooms, ensuring seamless live streaming between the spaces when needed.

Finally, what connects and completes the entire system is the DEXON DIMAX 4K Matrix Switcher. All AV signals are centrally managed through a 14U high, modular matrix.

Corte dei Conti - DEXON Systems

This hybrid system combines the functions of a presentation matrix, routing matrix, and video processor, and includes an integrated PC server. It allows real-time signal scaling and display, seamless switching between sources with zero latency, and advanced features such as fade effects, Picture-in-Picture, and video wall operation. The matrix handles both embedded and analog audio signals independently and enables hierarchical user rights. Its intuitive, web-based remote-control interface with preview capabilities ensures easy operation for the technical staff during live broadcasts.

The DEXON device serves as the core hub for switching and distributing all signals, ensuring seamless and reliable operation in a setting, where national live broadcasting and flawless information flow are non-negotiable.
